What is gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia surgery for masculine breasts

Gynecomastia is a disorder in which there is an increase in the size of male breasts like women. Gynecomastia generally results from the breast fat accumulation due to the influence of hormones (the imbalance between estrogen and androgen) and the overdeveloped mammary glands. Sometimes, it just occurs due to obesity, irrelevant to hormones. Gynecomastia should be corrected because it stresses out the patient and may affect his interpersonal relationships and social life. Before treatment, the endocrine system should be diagnosed first to find the causes.
If the adult patient with gynecomastia doesn’t have any problem in his endocrine system, he needs surgical treatment. Surgical procedures depend on the degree of development of mammary glands.

* Some patients experience temporary gynecomastia during puberty. (90% disappears within three years.) It is a normal phenomenon and mostly disappear before 20.

We recommend gynecomastia surgery to the following people.
  • 01Those whose breasts are protruded and can be held by their hands
  • 02Those who have sagging breasts due to obesity or those who cannot transform their breasts into muscles through exercises after weight loss
  • 03Those whose areolae are large and protruded
  • 04Those who are under stress due to having protruded breasts
  • 05Those who can feel firm mammary glands around the areolae
