Deviated nose correction back ground

Wide Nose BridgeWhat is Deviated Nose Surgery?

JW’s Deviated Nose Surgery creates a beautiful nose shape and improves the functions of your nose.

  • 01. A deviated nose(septal deviation) refers to a crooked nose appearance. If the nasal septum is deformed, other symptoms such as nasal obstruction may occur.
  • 02. A nose consists of the nasal bones, upper lateral cartilages, alar cartilages, and nasal septum. Any of them can cause a deviated nose.
  • 03. A surgical procedure varies depending on the causative factors and a degree of deviation.
    • Tip. What is the nasal septum?
The nasal septum refers to a structure dividing the two nostrils. Both sides are covered with mucous membranes and the cartilages are located at the center.

01. Camouflage Method

The camouflage method is a simple procedure that corrects a slightly deviated nose through cartilage graft or dermis graft. Most cases are corrected with simple procedures.

02. Corrective Rhinoplasty

Corrective rhinoplasty is recommended to those who have a seriously deviated nose whose parts are deviated at the same time.
In this case, deviated nose correction is not limited to nasal septum correction.
For corrective rhinoplasty for a deviated nose, several diagnostic and corrective procedures should be performed at the same time.Corrective rhinoplasty for deviated nose correction

  • 01. Deviated Nose Correction (Nasal Osteotomy)
Nasal Osteotomy is a surgical procedure that corrects the location of the nasal bones by vertically cutting both sides and central part of the nose. It is considered as one of the most basic procedures.
  • 02. Deviated Nasal Cartilage(upper lateral cartilage) correction (Septum cartilage wedge graft)
There are various surgical procedure methods to correct the deviated cartilages from the middle to the tip of the nose.
  • 03. Alar Cartilage or Nasal Bridge Correction
In case of a deviated nose tip or nasal bridge, its cartilages, alar cartilages or septal nasal cartilages, should be corrected.

  •  04. Septal nasal cartilage correction (septal nasal cartilage osteotomy or correction)
The nasal septum, consisting of bones and cartilages, refers to a structure dividing the two nostrils. It can be considered as a columella supporting the nasal bridge. Nasal septum deviation is a physical disorder of the nose, involving a displacement of the nasal septum. In other words, it refers to a deviated septum. When correcting a deviated nose, it should be checked if it is accompanied by nasal septum deviation. If so, it should be corrected as well.
  • 05. Inferior nasal concha correction
If you are suffering from nasal obstruction resulting from the inferior nasal concha, we cut a small part of the inferior nasal concha off or downsize it through a high-frequency procedure during deviated nose correction. This procedure can relieve such symptom by widening the inner space of the nose.

Wide Nose BridgeIn-Depth Examination

In-depth examination through a three-dimensional CT analysis

Before surgery, we conduct a precise and in-depth examination through a 3D-CT analysis on the nasal bones, the shape, conditions, and size of nasal soft tissues for a safe and accurate operation.

A deviated nose and nasal septum deviation

In case of congenital nasal septum deviation or asymmetrical bones or cartilages bent by external injuries, a deviated nose should be corrected for both aesthetic reasons and functional improvement such as breathing discomfort

Nasal obstruction

Inferior turbinate hypertrophy may cause nasal obstruction. Rhinoplasty can help treat nasal obstruction.

Various forms and sizes of septal nasal cartilages

When using septal nasal cartilages for rhinoplasty, we analyze the sizes and shapes of septal nasal cartilages accurately for precise surgical planning.

The size of nasal bone

After analyzing the size and shape of nasal bones, nasal osteotomy may be performed during rhinoplasty, if their size needs to be corrected.

* A 3D-CT analysis may not be required depending on your physician’s opinion.
